I am a physiotherapist who dedicated my working career to the treatment of babies and children. I feel a great responsibility to help young children in their motoric development as this is a very crucial period in their lives. Physical abilities acquired at young age are beside other abilities essential for an independent live in adulthood.
Together with parents and carers, we work on maximizing the personal abilities of every client to give them all the chances they deserve.
I have a great passion in involving the parents fully into the treatment program as for the child’s development it is important to have their sessions in short bursts a couple of times throughout the day. This becomes a daily routine for the family and is more efficient than a long, tiering treatment from a therapist once a week. It is also more time and cost effective for the families.
To ensure the efficiency of the treatment, I thoroughly assess the child and we discuss the child’s abilities and goals. Then we trial and choose the most appropriate exercises and I accurately teach the chosen exercises to the parents, carers or other involved people. We practise together until everybody involved feels confident to repeat the exercises at home with the child.
The next appointments we then catch up with all questions, successes or problems concerning the therapy as well as the development of the child and we keep reviewing, readjusting and practising the exercises each time.
Over time, parents or carers will become experts in the treatment of their child and my role becomes to supervise, coach, encourage, readjust and correct the treatment of their child. I also assess and note the child’s progress on its way towards his or her goal, which parents and carers often notice themselves instantly and quite accurately. Together we work towards
Through my work experience and many special courses I have taken, I have a number of different treatment approaches and techniques on hand to fit the needs of different children and their families.
